My arrival was full of complications. I had arrived hours before check in and no clue on how I was going to get around. That was when I had received the news that the pandemic had pushed Seattle to the number one most infected state! The mayor had quickly responded to this by shutting the entire city down. Making my first day a walk through the empty streets of downtown.
My heart quickly sank, I had no idea how this was going to affect me. Was I going to be trapped in the city missing my flight home? Was I going to catch Covid and die? The situation was completely unknown. I completely broke down in my room that night. Therefore, I did the first thing I could think of, I went downtown to asses the situation first hand. What I found completely surprised me!
In one night the city was closed and the streets emptied, but the next morning it felt as if the city exploded with people. There was live music in the streets, the market overflowing with people and the entire waterfront full of people simply enjoying life. I was swept off my feet to the beat of the city.

That one day changed my entire life, no matter what was going to happen, I had to live in the moment. My life could have ended there, from sickness to simply being attacked, but that could happen anywhere. I had decided to live like there was no tomorrow, to risk it all to live with no regrets.
So on my last few nights in the city I hopped on a ferry to go out onto Elliot Bay at sunset and I had a dream while on the calming sunlit waters. A dream where I was on an adventure in Africa!
So I booked my trip to South Africa as soon as I got back home!

The repercussions of my decisions
